Vocalising across several genres with grace, and versatility with a voice which has been likened to Sarah Vaughan, Yma Sumac, Lisa Gerrard, Cocteau Twins, and Kate Bush to name but a few, and her chameleon nature delights to suit the setting with a range which extends from gut-bucket blues to heavenly host.
Blending soprano with varying ensemble collaborations, Samantha successfully straddles the ancient and modern styles with her unique attitude to the muse. Highly entertaining, whether riding on a palanquin, singing an a-capella aria, floating in the wings during a wedding ceremony backed by string ensemble, combining the unlikely Nessun Dorma with belted ballads like All By Myself or mixing the modes with some mean guitars.
Samantha is currently working on;
- A collection of ‘natural learners’ music classes for mums and kids, using movement and fun to enhance the learning curve and develop the familial bond. We are also excited to partner with a laughing yoga teacher and other diverse thespians for a truly unique experience in finding the voice and the muse!
- A gentle programme to introduce adults to the concept of conscious breath, including private group classes and short workshops.
- Kundalina mantras and chants suitable for yoga and mediitation, as well as special requests from others working with these energies.
- Rehearsal with our new violinist and percussionist as well as promotion of Orchid-Star’s second album “Faster”, world fusion electronica.
- A series of audiovisual storyboards for performance vignettes in conjunction with Nadah Loka.
- A new swathe of classically inspired groovemusic for recording and performance. Catch me in the studio!
- Preparation of classical concert repertoire for next year’s run and practice of the usual belt/standard repertoire for the dancing crowd.
- A “Cloud Kolektiv” fusion set, mixing opera and jazz elements with Trilby Temperley, Mike Pineguy, Jenny Tingley and Bronwyn Wallis
